The Position:

 

 

The Education Development Director position is a full time position at Challenger Space Center Arizona to carry out the Center’s mission and vision: to inspire, excite, and educate people of all ages about the mysteries and wonders of space, science and the universe in which we live. The purpose is to ensure school districts and the education community at large are aware of Challenger programs; to meet or exceed department financial goals; oversee the Education Department’s curriculum programs; to maintain the highest standards of quality assurance in STEM programs as well as the delivery of the programs for visiting schools and the general public.

About Challenger Space Center

 
Skills/Qualifications:

 

* Bachelors Degree in Education or related field. Masters or higher preferred.

* Excellent communication, presentation, and customer service skills

* Business Development — experience in managing a budget, attaining revenue goals and calling on customers is required

*Museum program development experience preferred

* 3-Years experience in Museum Education Programs, Applied Sciences, STEM K-12 Program Delivery and Marketing, or related experience.

* Attention to detail and excellent organizational skills including the ability to track
results, follow a budget and work under deadlines

* Self-starter and ability to work independently

* A high level of computer skills including Microsoft Office required

and facility

* Interest in space, science, aeronautics, and museums

 

 

Requirements:
-Job is based at Challenger Space Center, 21770 N. 83rd Ave., Peoria. Must have transportation to and from work.
-Must be able to lift 50 pounds and move objects such as tables, chairs, boxes,
equipment, banners, and other items to prepare for events inside and outside the Center at all times of year. At times standing on footstools and ladders is necessary.
-Standing, crouching, loading, bending, lifting, stooping and stepping are
necessary.
-Must be able to occasionally work weekends and evenings

 

-Must be able to occasionally serve as Manager On Duty for the museum on a rotating basis with management team

-Must feel comfortable working with volunteers-encourage, respect and value their gifts of time, talent and dedication to our mission

-Must be able to work in heat and other inclement weather conditions interior and
exterior.
-Est. Work Schedule: (subject to change with scheduled events and promotions)
Mon. – Fri., 8 am – 5 pm. Evenings and weekends as needed based on events and promotions.
