An Evening With Astronauts, Meet The Crew of STS-131 Discovery
6:00 Doors & Exhibits Open:
Smithsonian Institution’s “An Astronaut’s Life: Articles Flown In Space”; My Solar System (Catch A Planet); Challenger Simulator: Mission Control & Spacecraft; Space Shuttle Atlantis Model and Space Shuttle Tire from STS-121 Discovery
7:00—8:15 My Mission—Space Shuttle Discovery Astronauts from STS-131
Commander Alan Poindexter, Pilot Jim Dutton, and Mission Specialists Clayton Anderson and Rick Mastracchio will each make individual presentations in break-out sessions explaining their important roles aboard the Space Shuttle Discovery to accomplish a successful mission. They will be available for questions and autographs. This is an amazing experience for the whole family. You may hear from the Commander, pilot, or mission specialist and have an opportunity for a Q&A session. Ask about the astronauts’ education, experience and accomplishments. Cost: FREE with seating on a first-come first-served basis. Complimentary reserved seating is available and HIGHLY recommended. Seating is limited.

Honeywell Fiesta Bowl Aerospace Challenge
Finals Competition: 9:00 a.m. – Noon
The final six teams in this prestigious statewide competition will square off for a final presentation before Honeywell judges and the crew of Space Shuttle Discovery STS-131. The real test comes when engineers and actual NASA astronauts question each team. The Finals Competition is open to the public. Doors open at 8:30 a.m. Cost: General Admission: $8 Adults, $7 Seniors/Military, $5 Students (4-17), Free for 3 & Under/Members, seating is first come, first served.
Science In Motion Street Fair, Noon – 6:00 p.m. An event for the whole family! Games, rides and activities show “the science behind sports” and a wide variety of local vendors for a spaced-out Street Fair. Competitors from the Honeywell Fiesta Bowl Aerospace Challenge display their fascinating projects. Teams created a scale model of an International Lunar Base with a primary mission to mine Helium 3 as an energy source and a secondary mission to build a sporting facility on the Moon.
Cost: Outside festivities FREE (some games and all rides charge an additional fee to benefit clubs and Challenger STEM education.) Inside – General Admission to the Center $8 Adults, $7 Seniors/Military, $5 Students (4-17), Free for 3 & Under/Members. Wristbands for the day include inside AND outside activities and are available-see below.
Teams from the Honeywell Fiesta Bowl Aerospace Challenge competition are invited to display their models at Science In Motion Street Fair and school clubs may raise funds by assisting with operating the games. Call the Challenger Center event operations at 623.322.2013.
