CHALLENGER SPACE CENTER CELEBRATES NATIONAL SPACE DAY BY INSPIRING KIDS TO REACH FOR THE STARS!

May 1st, 2003

In celebration of National Space Day on Thursday, May 1, the Challenger Space Center will be providing out-of-this-world experiences to nearly 200 students throughout the day. In addition, as a national sponsor of Space Day, Lockheed Martin will be providing free giveaways to students, teachers, and members of the public who visit the Center on Space Day.

On Space Day, the gleaming hallways and high tech simulators at the Challenger Center will be filled with wide-eyed youngsters, all ready to launch into exciting missions and activities about space. Two Voyage to Mars missions will fly, along with a mission to Rendezvous With a Comet. In addition, a group of inquisitive 5th-graders will learn all about what it takes to live and work in space during their To Be an Astronaut experience, while excited 2nd-graders will participate in the Center’s award-winning Space Place program.
