Mr. J. D. Campbell, a long-time Peoria resident and developer, has donated $10,000 to the Challenger Space Center to be used for exterior signage for the building.
“As we became more of a public facility, and especially with our Smithsonian exhibitions, we realized we needed better signage,” said Sandi Hicks, Executive Director of the Challenger Space Center. “As a non-profit, we rely on the generosity of supporters such as Mr. Campbell and his family. The signage we’ve purchased with their donation will definitely increase our attendance.”
“Some people drive by and aren’t sure what the Center is,” said J.D. Campbell, whose family owns Campbell Mercantile Country Store and Restaurant, Sunrise Water Company, and J.D. Campbell Realty. “I think the signage will help with that, and I’m glad I was able to help.”
