Gretchen McClain, Vice President for the Engineering, Technology & Program
Management unit of Honeywell Engines, Systems & Services (ES&S;), has recently
been elected to the Challenger Space Center Board of Directors.
“Honeywell has been an integral partner with the Challenger Center since its
inception,” said Sandi Hicks, Executive Director of the Challenger Space Center.
“Gretchen’s extensive background in space and aviation will be an invaluable
resource for us, and we’re delighted to have her on our Board.” About Gretchen
McClain: Gretchen McClain joined Honeywell in 1999 as Vice President for Program
Management in ES&S.; She served as acting Vice President of ES&S; Engineering
in 2001, during the GE merger integration. In 2002 she was appointed Vice President,
Regional Business & General Aviation for Airframe Systems. Prior to joining
Honeywell, Gretchen held various positions at NASA in Washington, DC, including
Deputy Associate Administrator for Space Development; Director, Space Station
Program; and Deputy Director, Policy & Plans for Space Flight. Gretchen also
spent several years in the aerospace industry as a Systems/Structures/Dynamics
Engineer. She has received numerous leadership and service awards during her
career, as well as recognition from various civic and educational organizations.
Gretchen received her Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from
the University of Utah in Salt Lake City.
At the June Board meeting, the Board re-elected officers for 2003-2004. They
are:
