On January 24 and 25, 2003, the Challenger Space Center will host the second in an eight-year series of Smithsonian Educators Conferences. During this upcoming conference, which is entitled “Sculpting the Future of Education,” education professionals will learn how to use museums and science centers to teach literacy in the areas of reading, geography, history, and science.
The conference session on Friday, January 24 is for professionals currently in the classroom. This session will be held at the Challenger Space Center in Peoria, and has a registration fee of $99. The session on Saturday, January 25 is for pre-service educators, and/or students majoring in education and related fields. This session will be held at ASU West, and has a registration fee of $25. Each attendee will receive nearly $100 in curriculum materials from both the Challenger Center and the Smithsonian to take back to their classroom.
