The Honeywell Aerospace Fiesta Bowl Challenge

Contest Overview
The Honeywell Aerospace Fiesta Bowl Challenge, in conjunction with the Challenger Space, is a contest designed to enhance the knowledge of space technology through the development of a “New” generation of International Space Station complete with a physical scale model. The contest has been developed to promote team building, communication, problem solving, and critical decision making skills as well as support and extend the content areas of math, science, social studies, language and fine arts.

Contest Prizes and Certificates

  • All application packets received by September 13, 2002, will receive a certificate of participation.
  • The winning team and teacher will receive a trip to the Kennedy Space Center to experience a behind the scenes look at a NASA launch facility. All expenses including airfare, food and accommodations will be included.
  • The winning entry will also have their winning design placed on the Challenger Space Center website.
  • Semi-Finalist teachers and their classes will fly the Challenger Space Center scenario, Rendezvous With A Comet. All classes will fly their mission within one year of the award.
  • All finalists will receive a team plaque commemorating their achievement.
Eligibility
The contest is open to students in grades 5 through 8. Contest entries must consist of a team of 5 students. Teachers are free to enter as many classes as they choose. The first 100 application packets received by 5:00 pm Friday, September 13, 2002, may participate.

All applications must be accompanied by:

  • A $10.00 nonrefundable entry fee
  • A completed Application
  • A Letter of Commitment from each student. Each letter should include educational background, qualifications, and statement of team commitment.
  • A Media Release Form signed by a parent or legal guardian of each student. Photos of the students and their entries become the property of the Challenger Space Center. These photos will be used for publicity in print or on the Internet
