Plan Your School’s Space Science Day!
STARGAZING PROGRAMS – Grades K – 12 (2 hours)
Planets, billions of stars, and galaxies all brought to you with our telescopes. These are outdoor nighttime programs that are fun, exciting, and educational. Every program is customized for your group. We present slide programs about the moon, stars, planets, and constellations, mixed with folklore of the night sky, with information on up-coming sky events to watch for. Then view the wonders of the universe through our telescopes (the moon, planets, star clusters, nebulae, and galaxies). We encourage participants to bring their binoculars or telescope and learn how to better use them.
SOLAR VIEWING – Grades 3 – 12 (2 hours)
No need for sunglasses here, take advantage of this special opportunity to observe and learn about our “Home Star – The Sun” using Special, Safe, Professional Solar white light and H-alpha filters. Learn about the Sun, its structure and evolution, the solar cycles and their effect on Earth. Then observe the sun; see sunspots, solar flares, prominences, and other solar features.
PLANETARIUM PROGRAMS – All Grades (45 minutes – 1 hour)
Bring the universe into your school or classroom. Planetarium programs are presented using the StarLab portable planetarium. All programs are grade level appropriate and customized for your group. Small Dome accomodates 25 – 30 people per program, Large Dome accomodates 75 – 80 people per program.
