CELEBRATE
THE 2nd ANNIVERSARY OF CHALLENGER’S GRAND OPENING & THE 33RD
ANNIVERSARY OF NEIL ARMSTRONG’S WALK ON THE MOON!
On
July
20, 1969, Apollo 11 Astronaut Neil Armstrong first stepped foot on
the Moon. On July 20, 2000, the Challenger Space
Science Center opened to great acclaim. And on July
20, 2002, the Center will celebrate both anniversaries
with a fun-filled host of family-oriented events. In
particular, we are proud to present the play, Apollo to the Moon,
performed by the Tempe-based, award-winning theater company, Childsplay. This
play will be performed at 1:00 p.m. on
July 20. An additional fee of $1, above general admission fees of $4 for
adults and $3 for children and seniors, will be charged for the play.

fabulous Arizona night sky. The program consists of a
slide presentation on the constellations and planets, with information on
upcoming sky events. Included are stories of the night sky, featuring folklore
from many different cultures. Attendees can look through high-powered
telescopes at the moon, planets, star clusters, etc. Stargazing is an outdoor
program, so consider bringing a water bottle and lawn chairs or blankets.
Cost:
Stargazing program is $3 per person; hot dogs, chips, and soda are an
additional $3. In case of inclement weather, an alternative program will be
provided.
