Family Fun Nights Featuring Stargazing

Once a month, the Challenger Space Center hosts a fun-filled family evening featuring space-themed events and games, along with an entertaining and interactive Stargazing program using high-powered telescopes.

2004 Schedule
Wednesday October 27 6p Total Lunar Eclipse
Saturday November 27
Saturday December 11

The doors open at 6:30p for family activities. Hot dogs, chips, and soda are available for a nominal fee. At approximately 7:30p, the telescopes are set up. The program consists of a slide presentation on the constellations and planets, with information on upcoming sky events. Included are stories of the night sky, featuring folklore from many different cultures. Attendees can then look through several different high-powered telescopes at the moon, planets, star clusters, etc.

Stargazing is an outdoor program, so consider bringing a water bottle and lawn chairs or blankets. In case of inclement weather, an alternative program will be provided. Stargazing is presented at the Challenger Space Center by Tony and Carole LaConte of Stargazing for Everyone.

Cost: Stargazing is free with general admission to the Challenger Space Center.
