The Education Event of the Year!

This year’s Smithsonian Education Conference, held February 6, 2004, was a huge success, with nearly 200 teachers attending. Featuring speakers from four Smithsonian national museums, who partnered with experts from local museums, conference attendees learned and explored innovative techniques for using science centers and museums to help improve literacy rates in their students.

Tom Horne, Arizona Superintendent of Public Instruction, addressed the group at lunchtime, and Jane Robertson, 2004 Arizona Teacher of the Year spoke during the evening reception. Sponsors included Citistreet, APS, Cox Communications and the AEA Foundation. The Fourth Annual Smithsonian Education Conference will be held Friday, January 23, 2005.
