Challenger Space Center Holiday Camps

Kids bored during the holidays? How about a fun-filled day in space!

The Challenger Space Center is offering Holiday Camps designed to fit the needs of kids who enjoy fun and stimulating activities (don’t tell them we also said it’s educational!). The camp features several half-day modules. Sessions to be offered for 1st & 2nd graders are: Exploring Planets and Astronauts & Rocketry. Camps for 3rd & 4th graders are: Stars & the Sun and Our Neighbor Mars. Camps for 5th-8th graders are: Rocketry, Robotix, Astronomy, and Astronaut Training. Sessions are scheduled as follows:

December 26th & January 3rd

9:00 am – 12:00 noon

1st & 2nd Grade – Exploring Planets

  • Exploring the planets unique qualities

  • Creating an edible solar system

5th-8th Grade – Rocketry

  • Learn propulsion and rocket basics

  • Make a water rocket

12:30 pm – 3:30 pm

3rd & 4th Grade – Stars & the Sun

  • Different kinds of stars

  • The Sun & its properties

5th-8th Grade – Robotix

  • Experience remote sensing

  • Build you very own Mars Rover edible solar system

December 27th & January 4th

9:00 am – 12:00 noon

1st & 2nd Grade – Astronauts & Rocketry

  • Balloon and Fizzy Rockets

  • Difference in Launch Systems

5th-8th Grade – Astronomy

  • Building a Starfinder

  • A Starlab indoor planetarium experience

12:30 pm – 3:30 pm

3rd & 4th Grade – Our Neighbor Mars

  • Edible Rovers and Rover Races

  • Aerology – the study of Mars’ surface

5th-8th Grade – Astronaut Training

  • Find out what it’s like to be an astronaut

  • Teambuilding Activities
