The Knight
Space Science Education Center and the Challenger
Learning Center of Arizona provide learning experiences
to five major categories of stakeholders.
5th through 9th grade students
from the Phoenix metropolitan area, other urban
and rural areas of Arizona, Indian reservations
and neighboring states. This is the primary
audience of learners for the Center. This age
group of students is generally appropriate for
the curriculum materials developed by the
Challenger Center for Space Science Education.
Teachers, especially from Arizona
middle schools. Elementary and high school
teachers and teachers from other states will also
be targeted, consistent with the science,
mathematics and technology curriculum objectives
of their local educational agencies.
Community organizations
particularly, but not limited to, ones which
serve young people in the Phoenix Metropolitan
area and throughout Arizona. Some examples
include the Boys and Girls Club, YMCA and YWCA,
and Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts.
Business and civic organizations
from throughout Arizona which support community
and educational organizations. This includes, but
is not limited to, sponsors of the Center,
potential sponsors of the Center, leadership
training organizations and the media for these
groups. The Center would be utilized to improve
teamwork and communication skills more so than to
teach science or mathematics. The Center will
also be used as a unique meeting and team
building facility for business executives.
Arizona residents and tourists
who want to partake in the Center’s special
educational experience.
