Tri-City Christian Academy
"THE HEAT"
2008 Honeywell Fiesta Bowl Aerospace Challenge Winning Space Station

In front of four NASA astronauts, with scientific and engineering experts from Honeywell, a team of five students from Tri-City Christian Academy defended their International Space Station project with oral presentations and an intense question and answer session. They won the trip of a lifetime when they were declared the First Place winners in the 2008 Honeywell Fiesta Bowl Aerospace Challenge held at the Challenger Space Center in Peoria.

The competition is designed to enhance students’ knowledge of space and science technology through the development of a new generation of the International Space Station. The team, including their teacher, will be flown to the Houston Space Center where they will experience a behind-the-scenes look at a NASA launch facility, as well as an on-field appearance at the 2008 Tostitos Fiesta Bowl in Glendale, Arizona and a simulated space flight mission for their classroom at the Challenger Space Center.

Team members are: Sydney, Caleb, Kristian, Melissa and Mikaila. Their project name: "The HEAT".

The Aerospace Challenge is a competition designed to enhance the knowledge of space technology. Each team will be responsible for creating a physical scale model and written report of a "new" generation International Space Station that can accommodate a crew of 100 people for two years.
