As a 501 (c) (3) charitable organization, Challenger Space Center of AZ relies on donations in addition to our admission fees to visit the Museum portion of our Center. Since we receive no governmental support from school districts, state, federal, NASA or Challenger National, we rely on individuals and corporations who see the need to support the more than 33,000 lives we touch each year through a variety of programs and services we offer.
You can imagine what it takes to operate and maintain our 23,000 sq. ft. building that houses one-of-a-kind pieces of art, a Simulated Space Mission – including Mission Control in addition to providing space for corporate functions, camps and field trips for schools throughout the year. In addition, our staff reaches out across the state to take Outreach Programs to schools who cannot afford the cost of transportation to bring their students to us. Our Outreach programming ensures that every child can have an equal opportunity to learn and develop their abilities.
All of that takes funding from a variety of sources and so we are extremely grateful to our valued contributors who have supported the Center since it began in 2000 in AZ. In addition to these corporate donors, we are grateful to the individuals who have invested in our programs and services through their yearly gifts, their endowments personally and through a variety of grants that have been generously given to support this important work. We have also received in-kind services from community businesses which dramatically reduce our operating costs by providing specific donations of items or services. It all matters as we work to provide opportunities for each and every child in our state.
If you or your company believe in the work we are doing and the promotion of STEM education for all students, please help us break down the economic barriers for every child to have an opportunity to learn and grow and gain marketable skills for the future. By the year 2018 – Phoenix alone will need to fill 166,000 jobs in STEM related fields. By preparing, encouraging and educating now, we can meet those needs from within our own communities. This type of education will provide higher paying jobs for AZ residents and will enable us to build strong communities. Your contribution stays in AZ and can make an incredible difference!
